i rarely ever comment on “ “ “ drama ” ” ” on here because for the most part i do not have the energy to participate in that but honestly today has been a real eye-opener for me in terms of the double standards in this fandom and how transparent some people are in how they treat the other members of one direction when it’s not harry or louis. i know some of you think it’s not that deep but really it’s definitely a culture that i’ve been noticing in this fandom for a long time 

like really are we going to believe a TMZ article???? y’all?????? c’mon????? what’s the difference between a TMZ article about louis and one about zayn? why is one automatically true, yet we can be critical about anything related to what’s published surrounding louis or harry?? not only has this happened with zayn, but by god has this happened with liam as well (cannot even explain the full extent of this). everyone is ready to believe that liam and zayn (and sometimes even niall) are complete monsters and that they make all the decisions themselves and are not affected by the same structural and power issues that harry and louis have gone through. 

i’m not saying you can’t be critical of zayn, liam, and niall, but i find it really interesting that everyone was only fine with not hating liam when he began to speak about how his mental health had deteriorated significantly and his issues with alcohol. so what, he wasn’t deserving of that empathy before that? could the concepts of what we think has happened to louis and harry also not be applied to the rest of the boys? one of the biggest things that i have always admired about being a larrie and following larries is that we think critically!! we never have taken anything at face value and we are able to identify when something isn’t right. it really is a punch in the gut to see some larries unable to even think for a moment that the other boys might be going through the same stunt cycles, same stupid PR articles that paint these men in a terrible light. why can we afford louis and harry this well deserved empathy and ability for critical thinking, but not the others?

and tbh some people in this fandom don’t like one direction and they don’t care about the other boys, and you know whatever that’s fine, but damn y’all if you don’t care about one direction as ot5 then stop pretending that you do!!! there is no obligation to like them, you just have to deal with the fact that your faves will always love one direction and you can’t change that. if people don’t care about the other boys, i cannot see what the need is to make jokes at their expense, or to provide commentary on gossip articles that would be COMPLETELY ignored if they were about louis or harry (and i’m not just talking about today or yesterday depending on time zones). 

also ?????? umm?????? the number of antis posts on my dash and posts from het harries i saw today??????? i cannot believe what i had to read, including posts that basically referred to louis as a father, or blogs that talked about having s*x with harry like two posts down from the post being reblogged by larries ????? funny how quick some of y’all are to call out people reblogging antis posts when it’s referring to louis or harry, but it’s suddenly ok to reblog from people because they made a ‘funny’ post about zayn???? the standards on here are so messed up, and normally i would be like ‘tumblr standards? non-existent’ but they only exist because the fandom has made them and if we’re sticking by them as best we can, why couldn’t that have been done today - oh wait yeah, it’s fine because it’s about zayn, and who cares, right?

i don’t do this often but i’ve gotten to the point where i don’t care. i care about five boys and i came on tumblr to join a fandom that respected those five boys. with everything that we’ve gone through as larries (which has been a LOT), i was hoping and expecting that a little bit more empathy would be extended to the members that aren’t harry and louis. some of y’all really just need to think about who it is you’re really supporting here and just stick to supporting those people. if you can take everything at face value regarding niall, liam, and zayn, then honestly you might as well be commenting on facebook on TMZ or the sun and have your fun there.

i love louis, harry, liam, niall, and zayn with my whole heart and it’s ok if you don’t but don’t forget to use your brain
